"Some composers focus on one genre, like Chopin with piano, or Wagner with opera. Of course they created huge variety within those genres. But other composers 'play the field,' like Prokofiev, who wrote masterpieces for piano, opera and film, or Mozart, who did so in every form he attempted.
While no one besides my mother compares me to these guys, I belong to the latter group. I like to work in disparate categories: opera, choral, musical theater... everything. From the sacred to the profane."
